Epic pets in Prodigy are the strongest pets you can catch: rare pets from the later zones, fully evolved, with high stats and powerful spells. There is no shop that sells them and no shortcut to get one. You earn an epic pet by reaching the later zones, catching a rare pet there, and training it until it evolves into its strongest form.

What makes a pet epic

Players call a pet epic when it is strong, rare, and fully evolved. That means three things together: the pet comes from a later zone where the wild pets are stronger, it is one of the rarer pets in that zone, and it has been levelled up until it reached its final evolved form. Any one of those alone is not enough. A rare pet that has never been trained is weaker than a common pet that has been evolved, and a fully evolved common pet is still not as strong as a fully evolved rare pet.

Every pet has one of five elements, fire, water, plant, storm or ice, and the element matters as much as the rarity. The strongest pet in the game is useless if it is the wrong element for the boss in front of you. The best teams have an epic pet of more than one element, not five copies of the same one. Where to find epic pets

Epic pets live in the later zones of the game world, the places you reach after the starting areas. The pattern is the same across the whole game: the further you travel from the starting forest, and the higher the level of the wild pets, the rarer the pets you meet. The starting forest holds mostly common pets, while the snowy mountains, the volcanic spire, the shore and the floating islands hold the rarer pets, including the ones players call epic.

Before you travel to hunt for one, level up your wizard and your current team, because the wild pets in later zones are stronger and harder to beat. A player who rushes into a late zone too early will lose battles and waste time. Build your team up first, then travel when you can win battles there comfortably. How to catch an epic pet

Travel to the later zone where the pet you want lives, and check the in game pet book for the current list of pets there.
Battle the wild pets in that zone until the rare pet you want appears. Rare pets show up less often, so a few trips are normal.
Wear the pet down in battle by answering math questions to cast spells. Use spells of the element the pet is weak against to end the battle faster.
Rescue the pet when the game offers the chance. It joins your team, and you can use it in your next battle.
Do not worry if your first try fails. Keep battling in the same zone and the pet will appear again.

Growing a pet into an epic pet

Catching a rare pet is only half the job. The pet becomes epic when it evolves, and evolution comes from levelling up through battles. Keep the pet in your active team, battle with it often, and answer questions correctly so battles end fast and give steady experience. As the pet levels up it evolves into stronger forms with better stats and new spells, and a fully evolved rare pet is what other players mean when they say epic pet.

Train one pet at a time until it evolves, rather than spreading experience thinly across five pets. Using epic pets in battle

Save your epic pets for the battles that matter. Use them against bosses and in hard zone battles, where their extra strength makes the difference, and use your regular pets for easy wild battles so they can level up too.
