If you forgot your Prodigy password, use the “Forgot Password?” link on the login page. Prodigy emails a reset link to the registered email address, and you set a new password from that link. Students have no email address on their accounts, so a student who forgot a password needs a teacher or a parent to reset it instead.
Reset for teachers and parents
- Go to the Prodigy login page at prodigygame.com.
- Select the “Forgot Password?” link next to the password field.
- Enter the email address registered to your teacher or parent account, then submit.
- Check your inbox for an email from Prodigy with a reset link. If it is not there in a few minutes, check your spam or junk folder.
- Open the link and set a new password, then log in with it.
Use the same email address you used when you created the account. If you signed up with Google, Clever, or ClassLink, reset the password with that provider instead, because Prodigy has no password on file for that account.
Reset for students
Students cannot reset a password by email, because student accounts have no email address. If you are a student and you forgot your password, ask your teacher or a parent. A teacher can reset it from the class list on the teacher dashboard: open the student, edit the account, type a new password, and save. A parent can reset it from the Parent Dashboard: open Manage Child, then use the change password option for that child. After the reset, log in with the same username and the new password. The student login steps are in Prodigy login for students.
Change a child’s password in the game
A parent or a child can also change the password from inside the game, if the child can still log in. The steps are: log in at play.prodigygame.com, choose Home or School, and open Prodigy Math. In the game, open the menu with the three bars in the lower left corner and select Settings. On the Account tab, look in the Info box for the “Change Your Password” link and select it. You will leave the game and the change password screen will open. Type the current password in the Current Password field, type a new password in the New password field, and select Set password. Use the new password to log in from then on.
Forgot username
If you forgot the username as well as the password, recover the username first. A parent can find it on the Parent Dashboard: select your name in the top right corner, then Manage Child, and the child’s username is shown there. A teacher can find student usernames on the class list. If the account was created with Google, Clever, or ClassLink, there is no Prodigy username to recover; log in with that provider instead. The parent steps are also in Prodigy login for parents.
Reset link did not arrive
If the reset email never arrives, check the spam or junk folder first, then check that you typed the right email address. The reset link only goes to the email address registered to the account, so a different email gets nothing. Wait a few minutes, because email can be slow, then request a fresh link. If it still does not arrive, your email provider may be blocking Prodigy mail, so check your blocked senders list or try a different email address that you can access. If the problem continues, contact Prodigy support with the account email address.
When nothing works
If you tried the reset, checked spam, and asked a teacher or parent, and you still cannot get in, contact Prodigy support through the support portal on the official Prodigy site. Have these details ready: the username or email address on the account, the school or class for a student account, and what you already tried. Support can check the account and help you recover it. Prodigy will never ask for your password by email, so treat any message that does as suspicious. For other login problems, see Prodigy not working: login and app problems.
Protect the account after recovery
Once you are back in, set a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and save it in a password manager or write it down in a safe place. Do not share the password with classmates or friends. A teacher or parent should keep a copy of each child’s username and password, because that is what makes the next recovery fast.
Frequently asked questions
I never got the reset email. What now?
Check spam or junk first, then check you typed the right email address. Wait a few minutes and request a fresh link. If it still does not arrive, your email provider may be blocking Prodigy mail, so check blocked senders or contact support.
Can a student reset a password without an email?
No. Student accounts have no email address, so a student must ask a teacher or a parent to reset the password from the class list or the Parent Dashboard.
I forgot my username too. What do I do?
A parent can find it under Manage Child on the Parent Dashboard, and a teacher can find it on the class list. If the account uses Google, Clever, or ClassLink, log in with that provider instead.
How long does the reset link last?
Use the link soon after it arrives. If it stops working, request a fresh link from the login page and use the newest one.
Someone else changed my password. What do I do?
Ask a teacher or parent to reset it at once, then set a new password that only you know. If you cannot reach a teacher or parent, contact Prodigy support with the account details.
