A class code is a short code your teacher gives you. Enter it once after you log in and your account joins that teacher’s class, so your teacher can see your progress and send you assignments. You do not enter the code every time you play. One code joins one class, and the code is not a password.
What a class code is
When a teacher creates a class in Prodigy, the game generates a unique class code for that class. The teacher shares the code with the class, and each student enters it once to join. After that, the student shows up on the teacher’s class list, and the teacher can send assignments and read reports. New classes hold up to 200 students. The code belongs to the class, not to one student, so every student in the same class uses the same code.
Join with an account you already have
- Log in at play.prodigygame.com with your username and password, as explained in Prodigy login for students.
- When the game shows the class code prompt, select Update or Enter Class Code.
- Type the class code exactly as your teacher wrote it, then confirm.
- The game shows a success message. You are now in the class, and your teacher can see you on the class list.
Join as a new student
- Go to play.prodigygame.com.
- Select New player in the lower left corner of the login screen.
- When asked, enter the class code your teacher gave you.
- Follow the prompts to create your username and password and customise your wizard.
- Your new account is created inside the class at once, and your teacher sees you on the class list.
If the code does not work
First, check the code letter by letter. Class codes mix letters and numbers, and a single wrong character rejects the code. Next, check that you are logged in to the right account: a code joins the account you are signed in to, so if a sibling used the same device, you may be in the wrong account. Log out and log in again with your own username. If the code still fails, ask your teacher to check it. Teachers can see the current code in the class settings on their dashboard, and they can give you a fresh copy. Do not guess codes from other classes, because a wrong class code can move your account into the wrong class.
Class code versus student account
A class code and a student account are two different things. Your student account is your username and password, and it holds your wizard, your pets, and your progress. A class code only links that account to a teacher’s class. Losing a class code never locks you out of your account, and changing classes never deletes your wizard. If you change schools or get a new teacher, you enter the new code once and your same account moves to the new class.
The New Teacher prompt
Each time you log in, the game may show a New Teacher prompt. It looks like you must enter a code every time, but you do not. The prompt only matters when your teacher actually changed. If your teacher is the same, skip it and play. If you have a new teacher, enter the new class code once on that prompt and you are done.
Frequently asked questions
Do I enter the class code every time I log in?
No. You enter the code once to join the class. After that, you just log in and play. The New Teacher prompt may appear at login, but you only act on it when your teacher changes.
I entered the code but I am not in the class. What happened?
You may have been logged in to the wrong account, or the code had a typing error. Log out, log in with your own username, and enter the code again. If it still fails, ask your teacher to check the code in the class settings.
Can I join two classes at once?
No. One account belongs to one class at a time. If you enter a new teacher code, your account moves to the new class.
Where does the teacher find the class code?
On the teacher dashboard, in the class settings. The code is shown when the class is created, and the teacher can open it again any time to share it with the class.
Is the class code the same as my password?
No. Your password logs you in to your account. The class code only links your account to a class. Never share your password with classmates, but the class code is meant to be shared with the whole class.
