The Prodigy parent dashboard shows what your child practised, which skills they mastered, and how much they played, and it lets you set goals and send in-game rewards. A free parent account is all you need to open it. Link your child’s account once, and the dashboard fills itself in as your child plays.
Link your child first
Before the dashboard shows anything, your child’s account must be linked to your parent account. Follow these steps:
- Create a free parent account on the Prodigy site, choosing Parent when you sign up.
- Log in to your parent dashboard.
- Select Add child from the top right corner of your dashboard.
- Enter your child’s Prodigy username and password. If your child plays through a teacher’s class, the teacher can give you these login details in the parent letter.
- Once the account is linked, the dashboard starts showing your child’s activity.
If you have more than one child playing, link each child the same way. You can switch between children inside the dashboard.
What you see on the dashboard
There are separate views for the Prodigy Math and Prodigy English dashboards, and feature availability varies between subjects. On the Math dashboard you will find these sections:
Recent Activity
An overview of the skills your child has been working on. You can see which skill your child worked on, the strand that skill belongs to, and the number of questions they answered correctly. Select View more to look back at previous weeks of activity.
Grade Level
This area shows whether your child is working at a specific grade level, or is still working through the Placement Test that sets their grade level. If a Grade Override has been applied to your child’s account, it shows here at which grade level the override is set. Grade Override is a member feature.
Weekly questions answered
This chart shows the number of questions your child answered each week. Use the arrows underneath the chart to move between weeks. Each day is split into two groups: School, for questions answered between 8 AM and 4 PM, and Home, for questions answered outside those hours when Home is selected at login. This split helps you see at a glance how much of the practice happened at school and how much happened at home.
Curriculum Progress
This shows the percentage of content completed in each grade, with each skill mastered in the game increasing the percentage. Mastery is counted when seven questions from a specific skill are answered correctly in a row. Answering more questions does not by itself raise this percentage, so a high question count with low mastery means your child is practising but not yet secure on those skills.
Report Card
This tab shows your child’s monthly report card. Prodigy also emails the report card to you every month. The report card shows the skills answered by grade and by month, plus a breakdown of the curriculum areas your child worked on, and the Goals your child completed.
Classroom Learning
This tab shows your child’s in-school learning. If your child is linked to a teacher, this chart shows the Assignments they are working on in school, so you can see what the teacher has set and how your child is doing on it.
Manage Child
This is where you manage the link to your child’s account and the settings attached to it.
Goals and Rewards
Goals and Rewards are the dashboard’s motivation tools, and they are free to use. Set a Goal for the number of questions you want your child to complete, and when your child finishes it, send an in-game Reward to celebrate. Your child sees the reward in the game, which is often enough to get them to ask for the next goal. Log back into your parent dashboard at any time to track your child’s progress and see past completed Goals.
What needs a Membership
Core tracking is free: Recent Activity, Grade Level, weekly questions, Curriculum Progress, the Report Card, and Classroom Learning all work without paying. Three extras need a Membership:
- Grade Override. Set your child’s grade level by hand instead of letting the Placement Test decide it.
- Cheers. Send in-game cheers to your child as extra encouragement.
- Practice Sheets. Print custom practice sheets based on the skills your child is working on.
If you are deciding whether to pay, check the price on the official Prodigy pricing page first, because prices change, and read our honest comparison before you buy.
Tip: Check the Report Card once a month and set one small Goal at a time, for example 50 questions this week. Small goals that get finished beat big goals that get ignored, and each finished goal is a reason to send a Reward.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Prodigy parent dashboard free?
Yes. A parent account is free, and the dashboard, including Recent Activity, Curriculum Progress, the monthly Report Card, and Goals and Rewards, costs nothing. Only Grade Override, Cheers, and Practice Sheets need a Membership.
How do I link my child to my parent account?
Log in to your parent dashboard, select Add child from the top right corner, and enter your child’s Prodigy username and password. If your child plays through school, the teacher’s parent letter has the login details.
What does mastery mean in Curriculum Progress?
Mastery is counted when seven questions from a specific skill are answered correctly in a row. The Curriculum Progress percentage rises only when skills are mastered, not when more questions are answered.
Can I see what my child does at school?
Yes. The Classroom Learning tab shows your child’s in-school learning, including the Assignments their teacher has set, as long as your child is linked to a teacher.
Do I need a Membership to track my child’s progress?
No. All core tracking is free. Membership adds Grade Override, Cheers, Practice Sheets, and in-game extras for your child, but it does not change the progress data you can see.
